Niagara Falls

Staying in Niagara Falls for three nights.  Headed down to the main attraction this morning.  A little overcast but the day got warmer and the sun came out to heat everything up.
The Falls were even more than we'd ever imagined.  We heard the noise first, then saw the expanse of water cascading over the edge.   It is hard to imagine this volume of water goes over every minute of the day.  It hits the bottom of the falls and the ground vibrates under your feet.  We just couldn't stop taking photos and of course no photo can capture the enormity of the scene.  Needless to say we bought the package deal and headed down the lift, through the tunnels and behind the falls.  Our yellow ponchos were no match for the force of the mist pushed out from the water.
Watch a video presentation on the formation of the falls, great show with moving platform and water spraying on us.
Lunch time then we walked down to the Maid of the Mist boat.  This is the boat which powers up to the base of the falls.  very exhilarating with heavy mist pushing against our faces and blowing in and under our blue ponchos.
Wandered around the site till it was about 4, headed home and I dropped the girls off at a clothing outlet store while I sat, sad and lonely doing the laundry.
Came home and decided to have a quiet tea, went out to buy a beer, wine and pizza.  Got the pizza, however, it is Labor Day in Canada today and all the alcohol outlets are shut.  No red wine with the blog so Pam and Cath tell me it's now as boring as hell......alcohol for tomorrow I promise!!!
Probably too many photos today - I'll tell Pam and Cath to tone it down in future.  Got plenty of plans tomorrow....stay tuned.
The edge of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

Looking over the edge.

Emerged from the tunnel to be confronted by the wall of water.

Trying to stay dry.

The bridge to USA.  Maid of the Mist embarkation point on the river.

And away we go.

Flattering rain covers.

Drowned rats?

Made it out alive.

One of those many photos we took.

More.

More.

Even more.

The American Falls, just down stream from the Canadian Horseshoe Falls.

Another look at the border crossing bridge.

Lunch on the balcony.

View from our lunch spot.

"Selfie" on the falls.

Decided not to climb over the fence, would have made a great photo though?

"Selfie" two.

The Police Station opposite the falls.
