Waiting at the airport now for the flight to Toronto. Up early again and got a taxi to the airport,
it was either that or get about four connecting trains, we didn’t want to miss
the flight so took the short cut.
Loved New York, having only 2 free days we tried to cram as
much as we could in those couple of days.
The people have all been so friendly and polite; they queue very well
and don’t push and shove or get upset about anything. We found them to be easy going and quietly
spoken, nothing like the reputation we have heard of the Americans. Next
time we’ll have to spend a bit more time here and get to know the place a bit
better. The motel turned out to be very
good after our first misgivings. We
worked out the public transport system very quickly and got around with no
trouble at all.
We went to the boarding gate at the airport to leave for
Toronto and there were only about 25 people waiting, I looked out through the
window and couldn’t see our plane. Pam
said ominously….it’s a small plane isn’t it?
I stood up and the plane was almost parked under the gate. Pam started to shake and felt a little
ill. I had to drag her to the door of
the plane and strap her in. There were
13 rows of seats….as Pam said….who the hell had the idiot suggestion of putting
13 rows on a plane?? Anyway we took off
OK, there were no TVs or in flight entertainment (unless you count Pam praying,
moaning, sobbing and shivering as entertainment… and I’d never suggest THAT). Smooth flight, Pam was once again amazed we
made it in one piece. She has told me
she is never getting on another plane if the wheels are smaller than lawnmower
wheels. We’ll see!!
Will be meeting up with Cath this afternoon, looking forward
to swapping tall stories about all our travels while we drive to Niagara Falls (about 1.5 hours)
