Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

Serious sleep in this morning after negotiating our way through Vancouver on the first day.  Foggy day so decided to visit Capilano Suspension Bridge.  It is a rainforest reserve about 10 minutes from the city centre.  Very professional outfit with forest walks, cliff walks and a walk over the Capilano Gorge on a suspension bridge just to make the knees jelly.  Pam was a lot apprehensive…there were lots of people walking the bridge, some would rock or sway, there was a supervisor who used a loud speaker to try and control the crowds, not very successfully.  Most of the tourists also stopped in the middle to take photos in between the swaying.   You can imagine by about half way over, Pam was starting to elbow her way through the crowd to scramble to the other side.  Interesting that it is the only way over and back, which means once there, we have to come back the same way, no better coming back.  I’m sure she feels it is a miracle we survived.

Left there a bit later than we thought because of all the activities we got into.  Back to the motel, collected our laundry and sat watching the crowds go by in Denman Street while the washing was getting done.  Bought alcohol and are now relaxing, making plans for Sunday.

Looks good from the front gate.

Just need to be told where to go.

First up - a cliff walk.

Along a cliff.

Pam going...around the cliff.

Living on the edge.
View from above.

Don't know how the trees stay upright and attached to the cliff.

Photos from the forest canopy.

Lots of walking up...and down.

To get the best view.

And that is just ridiculous!!!

Lets do the suspension bridge.

All 140 metres of it.

Not THAT far to fall.

Trees clinging to the edge.

Not very far to fall at all.

Pam...you walked across the bridge??....that wasn't very wise!!!!

Not quite the black stump....more like the Douglas Fir stump.

On the tree walk.

Not happy!!!

Made it...all with my eyes closed!

Easy.....

Trout heaven.

If only I'd bought a fishing rod.

A grand selfie.

Couldn't resist another.
Our pathetic efforts in capturing a picture of a Douglas Squirrel.  fast little buggers!!!

International man of action...in his rocking chair, all I need is a martini (shaken, not stirred) and my tuxedo and it would be all go, go, go.

  1. Well am now up to speed with all of your adventures. Truly an amazing time you're having. Photos are fantastic and Pam you're doing an excellent job of editing the final posts - well done!
This bridge and scenery is fantastic, and as great as the photos all look, it must be just breathtaking in real life. Enjoy! xoxo

  2. Thanks Deb, as you know, the photos are a little misty, don't really notice it with the naked eye but the camera seems to pick it up. If I spend another 3 or 4 thousand on a camera I could probably filter it all out. Think I'll go on another trip instead and just hope I can remember how it is with reminders from the photos. We are enjoying it!!! xxx
